Challenge


HSBC Asia Pacific organized its annual staff singing contest in 2024 to celebrate team spirit and cultural diversity across the region. The event brought together hundreds of employees and executives in a concert-style atmosphere with laser lighting and live performances.


The main challenge was to capture the energy and emotion of the evening in a concise 60-second highlight video that would later be displayed across HSBC headquarters and offices worldwide to motivate staff. The timeline was tight — the final cut had to be delivered within seven days and go through multiple revisions. The venue’s laser and low-light environment added technical complexity to exposure and color consistency.


Approach


Our team designed an energetic and cinematic approach to match the contest’s concert-style tone.


Key steps:


  • Dispatched two videographers for a two-day shoot covering rehearsals and main event.

  • Used gimbal tracking for smooth motion shots of performers and audience.

  • Captured dynamic crowd moments with participants holding HSBC props to reflect brand unity.

  • Recorded make-up sessions, backstage preparations, MC interaction, dance segments, and CXO arrival at the signing board.

  • Shot in 60 FPS to allow slow-motion sequences for emotional impact.

  • Edited in DaVinci Resolve using cinematic LUTs to preserve color depth in low light.

  • Integrated licensed uplifting music and animated taglines for motivation and brand alignment.


A project manager coordinated crew movement and communications through intercom across the large venue. A direct audio feed from the sound panel was recorded to ensure crystal-clear voice and music integration.



Result / Impact


The final video successfully captured the vibrant energy and team spirit of HSBC’s Asia Pacific staff. Its cinematic flow and music-driven rhythm resonated with both participants and management. Displayed internally at HSBC offices, the video served as a motivational piece for employee engagement and brand culture promotion.The client praised the crew’s professionalism, speed, and flexibility throughout the revision process — delivering four rounds of updates within a seven-day window.
