Location: The Conrad Hotel Hong Kong, Grand Ballroom

Challenge

The annual Burn’s Supper hosted by St. Andrew’s Society brought together hundreds of guests dressed in formal suits and evening gowns to celebrate Scottish culture and fellowship. The client needed a dynamic highlight video that not only captured the luxurious setting and live atmosphere of the gala dinner but also showcased HRAFN GIN’s pop-up cocktail booth, one of the event’s key features.

Given the crowded environment and tight budget, only one videographer was deployed to capture both the cocktail activation and the ceremony within a single evening.

Approach

Our creative direction centered on blending luxury lifestyle cinematography with immersive storytelling.

Execution Overview:

  • Used a Canon C70 4K Camcorder at 60 FPS for smooth slow-motion footage.

  • Deployed 360° InstaCam for immersive perspectives — including a unique shot submerged in a glass of gin tonic to capture the stirring and bubbling scene.

  • Focused on key visual beats:

    • Guests mingling in tuxedos and gowns.

    • HRAFN GIN bartenders crafting gin tonics with flair.

    • Grand ballroom speeches and ceremony moments.

  • Applied LUT-based color grading for warm, golden tones matching the luxury of The Conrad’s interior.

  • Edited two final outputs — one cinematic 35s hero video (16:9) and one 9:16 social cutdown for vertical platforms.

Despite limited manpower, the director ensured all scenes were timed with event flow, pre-scouting locations and capturing booth setup before the main crowd arrived.

Result / Impact

The final highlight videos successfully portrayed the vibrant and sophisticated atmosphere of the evening. The footage emphasized HRAFN GIN’s craftsmanship, the celebratory energy of the audience, and the prestige of The Burn’s Supper tradition.

The client praised the dynamic storytelling and how effectively the visuals balanced elegance with social energy. The videos were later used across St. Andrew’s Society and HRAFN GIN’s social media, enhancing brand prestige and engagement.
